Sindh Literature Festival (SLF) 2016

Wijdan is a registered entity established in 2015 for the promotion of Music, Performing Arts, Literature and Culture. Its first mega initiative is Sindh Literature Festival (SLF) based in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The first ever three day festival is being held from 4th to 6th November 2016 at Beach Luxury Hotel Karachi. This Festival provides innovative and high-profile events to support and showcase established, new and emerging writers and performers, as well as offering the opportunity to attend events to literature loving public/audience.



This literary festival is aiming at providing writers a platform to interact with each other and the general public especially their readers and youth, giving an opportunity to writers of all kind, established, new and emerging on merit to present and produce their writings and thoughts, re-organizing the literary talent of Sindh on a permanent literary platform, promoting literature supporting disciplines like language, cultural assets and heritage, history, fine arts, music, education, performing art, archaeology and anthropology etc, introducing newly published books and works in Sindhi language and other provincial languages, highlighting the importance of books and literature in the contemporary age of new technologies, encouraging female writers and giving them substantive space in events of the festival.
Carrying out the vision and mission and materializing the aims and objectives of the SLF-Karachi, a coordination committee of writers has been formed as under

The chairman of Sindh Literature Festival is the scion of the Haroon family, Mr Abdullah Hussain Haroon, former Pakistan Ambassador to the United Nations and former Sindh Assembly speaker.
SLF Coordination Committee is a high power body to select venue, prepare the schedule and finalize the participants and themes of the festival, arrange, manage and spend finance in a transparent manner. The committee under an advisory committee comprising well-known and well-reputed writers, academicians and intellectuals, works closely with a team of organizers divided in sub committees formed to deal with different tasks and duties to ensure the quality in management of the festival to seek results envisaged. Every subcommittee receives support from a team of volunteers mostly youth with equal number of female and male.
The themes of the SLF include sessions onliterature, Culture, Archaeology, History, Education and Arts etc. For which prominent writers and intellectualshave been invited to share their input.
